Unfolding Decomposition (2022)
is a series of nine clay sculptures, resulting from a months-long process of shaping and reshaping the same block of clay in a mutual dance. Both, Carla's body and the clay weighed the same amount of kilos. After each dance with the clay block, the changed form of the clay was captured by building a negative mold around the clay. These negative molds again were the base to create new positives from them, resulting in the series of nine clay sculptures. Consequently, when seeing the sculptures next to each other, the same block of clay at different moments in time is present at the same time. Between the sculptures, invisible, lays the change, or in other words, the movement (or dance) from one sculpture to the other. And in each of the sculpture every other is implicated as well - those that have actualized before and the potential of all yet to come.
